Poverty

Maybe I can't solve poverty or even come up with a solution to this awful plague that is poverty; but I can share this documentary that helps shed light on this important topic. Knowledge is power; I hope that if we share this information with enough people, that a movement will happen to help us all find balance.

...makes me smile:-)

So I was getting my mail, and as I opened my mailbox an envelop fell in my hand; I read: "Look inside for valuable coupons!" then I thought to myself : "hmmm, I will!" I then realized how much of a deal seaker I am. I collects points from everywhere and I reap the benefits! ;-) I get 'optimum points' and get a makeup shopping frenzy; I get Airmiles and always get movie passes; I collect 'Esso points' and get gift-cards; I collect 'La Senza' points and get free panties :-) I go on mysaving.com and get all kinds of different samples...Those are little easy things that I do for myself to make me smile!

Don't silence the signing Bus Driver!

The siging Bus Driver is a legend in Ottawa. He addressess the passengers as ladies and gentlemen and makes everybody's day brighter! But as in many things in life some people constently get out of bed on the wrong side and seem to want to either spread negativity or make others miserable... the mayor of Ottawa received a "series of complaints' (which is a big total of 12 complaints...)  and decided to silence the legend because condoning his behavior would apparently create a 'free-for-all' on the bus....C'mon mayor are you serious!

Lucky for us the signing bus driver, Yves Roy, applies his positivity to his entire life, here are his thoughts on the matter:

“I was shocked that they hadn’t told me yet. They had people who want peace and quiet, some say I scream, that I can’t keep a tune. But I have many commendations that came at the same time and lots of verbal compliments of people who tell me to keep it up, pat me on the shoulder, and tell me I made their day.”

Thank you Yves for your beautiful tunes and gracious smile - just knowing there are people like you in this world is a ray of sunshine by itself! Another great example of passionate people ;-)

I would love to have taken THIS photograph!

I absolutely adore horses - that is why I truly envy the person who had the opportunity not only to view this beautiful sight but also capture it on camera!

New beginning!

Well, I have written in a while; I was really busy and had alot on my mind...

A new chapter is definately opening! I cannot believe the changes that occured in my life, in myself in these last months. I have to say it wasen't pleasant at first; I felt so lost, confused and frustrated. But I really took all the help and resources available to me and made the most of it. The final product is a new and improved me. I feel better I can think clearer and I definately have a new take on life. I use to really push to get at a new stage in my carrer and found only frustrations. It hard to handle when you give it your all and you push no matter what to have no positive results (or feedback) I now understand that success dosent equal happiness - but that striving to be happy will eventually bring success (I guess I had the equation wrong...I was never good at math;-) I have now cut ties with certain people (...ok with my work) and I know better things will come along. I hope this lesson stays with me forever; strive for happiness, the rest will come.

Some of the things I do on a daily basis is my fours agreements first thing in the morning (be imppecable with my words, don't take things personally, don't assume anything and always do my best) it really helps me stay focused and positive. At night, I think of all the things I was grateful in my day. I feel really good doign this and I truly hope to be consistent enough to keep doing for the rest of my life.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who supported me in this 'messed-up' phases I went through. I got such great feedback about this blog, about my thoughts and about how I has taking the time I needed to take care of myself. I have great family and friends and I am very grateful for that. I know I am blessed and I hope to give back in my life as much as I have received;-)

My four agreements

I read this book a long time ago 'The four Agreements' I enjoyed it but it didn't leave a big impact as it did this time. I read the book again and the impact is much different - I guess it was time! It is a short but very powerful book. The concept is to apply  these four rules that are seemingly very easy; but I have to say that the proverb 'easier said than done applies ;-)

The ideas come from the ancient Toltec wisdom of the native people of Southern Mexico. The Toltec were 'people of knowledge' - scientists and artists who created a society to explore and conserve the traditional spiritual knowledge and practices of their ancestors. The Toltec viewed science and spirit as part of the same entity, believing that all energy - material or ethereal - is derived from and governed by the universe.

agreement 1

Be impeccable with your word - Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean, and deeply men what you say. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

agreement 2

Don’t take anything personally - Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

agreement 3

Don’t make assumptions - Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

agreement 4

Always do your best - Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

Just reading these agreements is the first step; because ackowledging them is the first step to enlightenment:-)
